Analysis with Shalthis - Throwdown Week 3
JAM RL is entering their last week of Throwdown Esports League Play after coming off of their first loss this past week to Legacy Esports 3-to-1 which would be the same series score they’d beat Masterminds by just prior in their first game loss of League Play. While the loss does expose a vulnerability, JAM are still the favorites to take one of only two spots available at the RLCS Finals in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. So, what does JAM need to do win their last two OCE League Play matches?
JAM RL faces Alpha Sydney and Corvidae for their last League Play matches. While the latter team only has one win, Alpha Sydney is the only other 4-1 team in League Play, making them the other favorites to also attend the RLCS finals. But, first, both teams have to survive the Throwdown LAN on 21st May. This event will also feature the Season 2 finals of League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Since JAM RL is up against Alpha Sydney first, they need to work on their ground game. AS likes to play the ball in the air, just like JAM, but they need to look at what Legacy Esports did to beat them and plug those holes. Less of the shots should be big booming shots and clears and more of the dribbles and carries out of the zone.
The big booming shots and clears also make it easier for the opposing teams to steal possession. Most of Legacy’s goals were scored by close proximity and with ball control. Losing Game One also affected the two Ms – momentum and morale. That can contribute to the series loss. While they can simply rely on what got them there against Corvidae, their games against AS require a bit of planning. They need to adjust how they approach AS and they should also have the 2 Ms on their side if they can win that first series.
After this is the Throwdown LAN finals on 21 May then the RLCS LAN on 2 through 4 June in the United States.
